Influence of porosity of reformed earth embankment windbreak wall on flow field and displacement of catenary under crosswinds

Flow fields around reformed earth embankment windbreak walls (REEWWs) with five different porosities under crosswind were studied using the improved delayed detached eddy simulation (IDDES) based on SST ?-? turbulence model by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in this paper. Based simulated flow field results, finite element method (FEM) was adopted to analyze wind-induced displacement of catenary. The spatial dimensions REEWWs identical, but they had porosities, values 0%, 12.5%, 25%, 37.5%, and 50%. three-dimensional effects porosity structures streamline patterns catenary, catenary investigated. numerical algorithm used study verified results from tests. showed that installing a porous windshield top wall will change original structures. 37.5% reduced wind speed 61.25% for line1 89.36% line2, 96.86%. Therefore, protection performance improved.
